From Mac Gadgets To Mud Pots: A Life Journey
MacGizmoGuy rode the coattails of Apple Computer Inc's incredible rise in the technology sphere - every step of the way. My passion for All-Things-Macintosh sustained a decades long career in computer technology advancements and the development of Telecommunications, the Internet itself, the World Wide Web, and Social Media. But now he just wants to putter in his patio watergarden, growing lotus, waterlilies and pond plants as The Waterlily Bear in his retirement years.
The Water Lily Bear's Technology Farm
The two are intertwined. In order for my Water Lily Bear persona to be successful on the web and in social media, I have to leverage every bit and byte of Mac's Apple technology skills, hardware and peripherals to create a niche gardening website on my MacBook, do all the things for that site to reach its audience. That means SEO skills ranking in the major search engines, being recognized in the Large Language Model LLM's in the era of AI ChatBots, staking a presence and video marketing a cohesive brand identity across every corner of Social Media. I couldn't do it without my iPhone and MacBook Air laptop computer,
webcams, microphones, tripods and ring-light accessories and peripherals.
From Technology Culture To Horticulture
The
MacGizmoGuy shift from Tech Culture to Aquaculture isn't a total leap into Steve Jobs 'Think Different' campaign mode. It's simply a lateral move into doing what I've always done best: To teach, to inform, to show, to share, to educate, to assist people in pursuing their life's work or passions - While using a computer to do it. My love for growing water lilies is nothing new, I started when I was a kid, stealing water lily tubers and pond plants out of lakes and rivers, then trying to grow them at home. Container water gardening has let me create a little mini pond everywhere I've lived.
Tub Gardening Explainer Videos Made Easy - On A Mac
I've been creating videos ever since it was possible for a consumer to do outside of a TV studio. Reel-to-reel video tape decks, the very first short form video platforms over dial up modems, the very first Video Lives Broadcast with
CU-SeeMe - All in black-and-white no less! All these experiences make MacGizmoGuy a natural at recording Water Gardening how-to vids as
The Waterlily Bear. Hitting the record button on my iPhone or Mac, looking at the camera and sharing what I know is as natural as breathing to me.
MacGizmoGuys Legacy Is Waterlily Bear's Future
So there you have it an over-arching view of two seemingly unrelated aspects of who I am. It's not high tech versus low tech, Earth Mother versus Silicon Gods - It's a collaboration of the best aspects of my passions in life that will continue 'til the day I die. Until then, I'll keep making
water garden videos, being everywhere on social media, sharing what I love and know with you.
