Had enough of Google - Yahoo - Bing Search? There are alternatives to the Big Three. Perhaps the most innovative WAS a very Apple Mac-like, very CoverFlow-like search engine: www.searchme.com -- which let you scroll and pan back and forth through thumbnails of the websites you might like to visit. Sadly, they were assimilated by Google - and that was the end of that.
So what's left standing? http://search.spacetime.com/ - a neat 3D Thumbnail search you may find interesting that shows there's more to Search than just text lists of results. What MacGizmoGuy finds most intriguing about Visual Search engines; since the thumbnails are so large - is how color, visual perception, site AESTHETICS may be what drives a searcher to choose and click - and not the words as much.
Perhaps we are a species or culture that would rather just point and click in an instant - before we'd want to read or think. For good or bad, humans are primarily VISUAL creatures first. and that my friends, is what makes Visual Search such a disruptive technology as they say. Given the same list of search results, I dare say a very, very different choice of sites would be made by a user at a visual engine than they would at Google - Bing - or Yahoo.
